한 나라는 그 나라 국민들 수준과 똑같은 지도자, 정부를 갖는다

Joseph-Marie, comte de Maistre (French: [də mɛstʁ];[2]
1 April 1753 – 26 February 1821)
was a Savoyard philosopher, writer, lawyer, and diplomat.
He defended hierarchical societies and a monarchical State
in the period immediately following the French Revolution.[3]
Maistre was a subject of the King of Piedmont-Sardinia,
whom he served as member of the Savoy Senate (1787–1792),
ambassador to Russia (1803–1817),[4]
and minister of state to the court in Turin (1817–1821).[5]
Maistre, considered by Masseau and Didier[6]
to have been a key figure
of what they termed as the Counter-Enlightenment,
saw monarchy both as a divinely sanctioned institution
and as the only stable form of government.[7]
He called for the restoration of the House of Bourbon
to the throne of France
and argued that the Pope should have ultimate authority
in temporal matters.
Maistre also claimed that it was
the rationalist rejection of Christianity
which was directly responsible for the disorder and bloodshed
which followed the French Revolution of 1789.[8][9]

정치에 참여하지 않는 것에 대한 처벌 중 하나는
당신보다 열등한 자들에 의해 지배당하는 것이다.

2개월씩이나 기업활동의 전면중지에 가까운 조치를 내려
일본경제는 엄청남 타격을 입고 있다.
아베 정부는 오로지 국민 희생으로 코로나19 사태를 수습하려는
것으로 보인다.
무능하고 무책임한 정부를 질타하고 개선을 촉구해야 할
일본 언론은 침묵하고 있다.
정치가를 감시해야 할 일본 시민사회나 일본국민 역시 침묵할 뿐이다.
침묵뿐 아니라 내일 당장 내각을 해산하고 총선거를 치른다고 할지라도
또다시 자민당이 정권을 차지할
것이라는 관측이 보편적이다.
일본국민은 민주국가 시민이라기보다는
봉건국가의 백성(신민)이라는 표현이 더 적합할 것 같다.
그리스 철학자 플라톤의 명언
“정치를 외면한 대가는 가장 저질스러운 인간들에게 지배당한다”는
말이 떠오른다.
